Interface design comic

BookFinder.com’s seach interface was designed with the assistance of a team of grad students from UC Berkeley’s School of Information Management and Systems. We started off with paper prototyping, moved on to having users test HTML mockups, and finally brought in users to try out live versions of the BookFinder.com site. Seeing this OK/Cancel comic strip about usability testing reminded us of what it was like going through that process, and the problems we encountered with some of our earlier designs. Thankfully, it’s been a while since we got such baffled responses from our test users.
