A new bookseller's education
Chris Lowenstein has been publishing Book Hunter’s Holiday, a fascinating weblog about how she’s learning to become an antiquarian bookseller. It’s well-written, funny, and modest; it’s only been up for two months, but it’s already one of my favorite bookseller blogs.
I recommend Chris’ journal very highly, for anyone with even the slightest interest in the education of a new bookseller. (It’s unfortunate that it’s organized as a weblog; you end up having to read it in reverse chronological order, rather than from start to finish, but so it goes.)
Here are some of the posts I enjoyed:
- introduction, part 1, part 2, part 3
- Colorado Antiquarian Seminar (guest post on Bibliophile Bullpen)
- recommended reading
- bookseller tools
- meeting and networking with other booksellers
- how to find a mentor
- several posts on book fairs, page 1, page 2
- several posts on library sales

Wonderful posting. - I hope more people visit, mark as a favorite and comment often on Chris' site. - I know I will both visit and comment. - I feel like I've met a new friend after reading just a few posts. A soul-mate if you will. Thanks for linking to Book Hunter’s Holiday - I probably never would have found it otherwise. -
